Basics to make gold leaf stick. Gilding is done by applying a sticky gold base to the bottom. This can be with linseed oil, spirits , or water-based depending on the material the gold leaf is to be applied.

For wooden frames, for example, we recommend the oil-based gold primer, as wood is an organic material that works with the oil.
