Williamsburg oil paint

In the mid-1980s, Carl Plansky began making paint for himself and his friends in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. Williamsburg's oil paints subsequently gained an international following while maintaining the handmade integrity of the paint. The oil paint is made with pure, premium, alkali-refined and PH-balanced linseed oil.

Williamsburg pigments

Each color pigment is created to enhance the beauty and brightness specific to that pigment. Some colors will feel slightly gritty, others extremely smooth.

Cerulean Blue has a beautiful velvety, light-absorbing surface with an extremely strong opacity. Sienna colors will often be thick or gritty, revealing golden or mahogany undertones instead of just heavy, dull browns.

The pigments are processed in pure, premium, alkali-refined and PH-balanced linseed oil and manufactured in batches no larger than five gallons at a time. This gives total control over the product, just like the French color manufacturers of the late nineteenth century did. All materials are hand-measured and the finished oil paint is carefully inspected and quality assured.
